Dialectics


Explanation:
It depends -- if you need it in a philosophical sense as in Cartesian, or Aristotelian philosophy, or Hegelian, it is dialectics. In literary criticism -- especially in the works of Mikhail Bakhtin the concept is called dialogics, but it really means something else than what you need. In a philosophical sense it is dialectics.
