How do you say ‘to be moved (emotionally) by something?

E.g. “He was (deeply) moved by the film about the sufferings of the poor.”

تکان دهنده is informal, you can also say تحت تأثیر قرار گرفتن but it is a little boit more formal...

We often use it as active verb.
آن فیلم او را به هم ریخته بود.
تحت تأثیر قرار گرفتن/دادن is also correct.
