Non capisco quale sia l'accezione del verbo "to wave".
Avevo pensato ad "agitare", ma agitando una tazza il contenuto cadrebbe. Penso indichi il movimento che si fa per invitare a fare un brindis, ma non riesco a renderlo.
Al momento giusto agitò abbondantemente la tazza di tè per invitare i suoi sudditi (perché vine definito "principe") a continuare i festeggiamenti per la sua vittoria.

Qui più che altro è "sollevare", certo magari non proprio in linea retta verticale.
E' un semplice invito a fare il brindisi ondeggiando un poco (se no cadrebbe il tè, chiaro) la tazza.
In italiano non è facile riprodurre la sfumatura data in inglese dal verbo "wave", quindi

Dopo la puntuale osservazione di Françoise, rettifico la parte tra parentesi, dato che "ondeggiare" può essere solo intransitivo.
Mettiamo "facendola ondeggiare un poco/leggermente"
che è il gesto che si fa quando si vuole invitare qualcuno a brindare.
