Discussion

Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 10, 2013:
@SKtrans In future postings for us here, bear in mind that postings for different terms within a same sentence need to be stand-alone. You did post more complete context on the other term, but not on this one. Answers do not always read every post in a series, even if that "series" contains just two posts.

So, full information and enough to make each post self-contained is helpful. This is not just for the glossary but also for the simple fact that people often only read one among a number of posts. From the Asker's point of view, this increases your chances of getting your answer back quickly. ;-)
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 10, 2013:
I was pleased to read the Asker's further information.
I've assisted at EEG sessions in contexts related to ASD, installing the person to undergo the test.

Chewing movements are common in a number of conditions and often indicate stress. It is found in schizophrenia too.

I had read the information presented here to suggest that when the sensor was chewed, no significant activity was recorded.
Michael Barnett Jul 10, 2013:
Answer in previous question. This part with confidence level 5. ;-)
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 9, 2013:
@SK Without further information, I'm not going to risk making a suggestion. Sorry! Maybe if your client can provide more info (equipment, reason individual being tested), then you could come back with that.
sktrans (asker) Jul 9, 2013:
Nikki, there are no sentences following the last one posted.
sktrans (asker) Jul 9, 2013:
there is no additional info regarding the "sonde"
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 9, 2013:
Possibility "sonde" could be being used to describe a sensor electrode.
Please could you describe the circumstances in which the EEG is being carried out?

The sensor itself could be twisted, mashed up, chewed, whatever. In certain situations, the probe, sensor itself can actually be chewed by the person undergoing the EEG.

There are too many open questions on this one for the time being.

Perhaps the report provides the name of the EEG material being used. That could set us on track. I've seen them used but given what NeuroFocus and NeuroSky are coming up with for example, we need more info to picture what is being described.
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 9, 2013:
Hello SK,
I had understood that this relates to an EEG as it says so in the heading. Could you post the sentence following the last one yuo post here?
sktrans (asker) Jul 9, 2013:
No Liz, I have no further info.
liz askew Jul 9, 2013:
Hi, can you be more specific about what "sonde" is involved here, i.e. a probe or catheter...?
sktrans (asker) Jul 9, 2013:
yes, as posted: electroencephalogram
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 9, 2013:
As it stands, it appears to be describing a chewing/chomping of the probe.
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 9, 2013:
Just looked at the other question and "in the interpretation section" appears there too. I suppose this is in relation to some type of report on an EEG. More context would probably help.
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Jul 9, 2013:
I see you have posted another question. However, I come to this one first and the context is a little light. "In the interpretation section" of what? If the clue is in the other question, it can get complicated, particularly on subsequent searches once it's all wrapped up nice and snug in the glossaries!

Note from asker:
Thank you very much Liz for all your efforts to help out with this question. As you can see, Michael Barnett has cleared the mystery.
Thanks Liz, but I am entering Michael's answer in the glossary even though he did not post it here.
