German term

Aufrichttraverse

German to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation wind turbine

everywhere else traverse is translated as crossbeam, so righting crossbeam? raising crossbeam?

Have not been able to find anything suitable yet. Thanks!
Proposed translations (English)
3 vertical traverse

Discussion

H. C. Centner Oct 9, 2013:
Could this be the crane with which the Wind Turbine is assembled?
Lis Liesicke Oct 9, 2013:
hoist or hoist/hoisting crossbeam maybe?
freekfluweel Oct 9, 2013:
(concrete) ring (?) several of those rings making a mast/body of turbine

(4 pages!)

Absetzbock -> foundation ring/pedestal (?)

in Dutch: oprichten -> to erect

This would seem to confirm your impression:
Wendy Lewin (asker) Oct 9, 2013:
I get the impression it is a piece of equipment to eventually "right" or "erect" or "raise" a section of the wind turbine to be upright, not sure if it is vertical itself, but to make the piece of the wind turbine vertical

vertical traverse

not sure but it would make sense. See the article about Liebherrs newest cranes or perhaps it is a general term for all traverse that run in the vertical.
Example sentence:

RM 35 60” x 60” Horizontal/Vertical Traverse

Note from asker:
Thanks for your suggestion, but it really is a crossbeam for righting or raising and is not vertical itself - the end result is that the thing it is attached to will be held in a vertical position to be attached
