French term

saluées le jour J..

Non-PRO French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) financial report
Hi there I am working with a text and I have tried so hard to work out what the following phrase means: saluées le jour J...

Here is the phrase, which is found within a financial report:

Il est même arrivé que certaines publications de très bonne qualité soient saluées le jour J puis se soldent ensuite par une forte baisse du cours de bourse : ce fut le cas de Technicolore, qui cède 8% en juillet !

I have found out that it can mean D-day or the Big day but in this context it doesn't seem to fit :S

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Thank you

@Phillgoddard thank you for answering my other question before it got deleted :S in answer to your query before this sentence it says this: En revanche, plusieurs groupes ont déçu lors de ces publications semestrielles, ce qui a souvent été durement sanctionné :
Technip (-14%), NRJ (-17%), Publicis (-12%), Plastic Omnium (-13%).

@Phil I think you are right about "launch date". Why don't you post it as an answer? "Saluées", or rather "soient saluées" should also be addressed, as the Asker seems to have a parsing problem.
philgoddard Aug 24, 2014:
I saw your other question just before it was deleted by a moderator and yes, it means "when they are launched".

It could mean on a given day as Allegro suggests, but I think it could also mean on the launch date. What does it say before and after this?

French term (edited): le jour J..

on a given day

I am fairly certain this is a specifically French way of saying "on a given day"
I have translated documents, for example, that go on to mention "J+20" "J+365" etc.
Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Yes, as Phil says, on the day they were launched, or perhaps floated on the S/E.
