Hi there I am working with a text and I have tried so hard to work out what the following phrase means: saluées le jour J...
Here is the phrase, which is found within a financial report:
Il est même arrivé que certaines publications de très bonne qualité soient saluées le jour J puis se soldent ensuite par une forte baisse du cours de bourse : ce fut le cas de Technicolore, qui cède 8% en juillet !
I have found out that it can mean D-day or the Big day but in this context it doesn't seem to fit :S
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Thank you

French term (edited):
le jour J..
on a given day
I am fairly certain this is a specifically French way of saying "on a given day"
I have translated documents, for example, that go on to mention "J+20" "J+365" etc.

: Yes, as Phil says, on the day they were launched, or perhaps floated on the S/E.
