As the pressure drop across the feed preheat bypass valve is much higher than that of the preheat distributions valve, the majority of the feed rate change will be routed through the preheat and feed exchangers thereby adjusting the feed preheat duty more or less proportional to the change in feed rate, thereby, minimizing deviations of the heater firing duty required to for maintain a constant reactor inlet temperature.

Вот еще контекст: Feed heater outlet temperature is maintained at desired value by controlling firing of the furnace.
If the temperature controller required at the outlet is below set point, the controller output will increase to increase the firing and if it higher than the set point, it will decrease to decrease the firing.
