curbs / kerbs at the edges Explanation: Yes, tope basically means "stop" (as in a door stop), so I think curb would be okay to use in this case, though it would probably have to be fairly high to stop a truck! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day19 hrs (2016-02-28 17:18:40 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- I know you've closed this now, but thinking about it again, I would go for something else as I don't think they would really be curbs per se (perhaps curb stones). Maybe a word such as "buffers" or "butts" would be closer to the source text. I was thinking perhaps they would be more like a version of those humps you sometimes see in car park spaces to bump the front wheels against in order to stop the cars from knocking against the wall in front of them. |
