: What customers can do, with the data provided by 'metering' — but it's not actually the term used by the Service Provider for that process. It's customers "keeping an eye" on their usage, not the actual technical function of metering it.

Not sure I understand what you mean. So the customer can "suivre sa consommation". [Edit] Then I don't understand "neutral" vote because you've just confirmed "suivi de consommation" is the right choice. ;-)
