Bliska podczerwień. Zakres pasma rejestrowanego promieniowania podczerwonego determinuje filtr
IR. W zależności od jego typu, możliwe są badania w pasmach 730 – 1000 nm, 780 – 1000 nm, 840 – 1000 nm i zakres w którym wykonano analizy 900 – 1200 nm. Badania pozwalają uwidocznić miejsca, w którychwystępują stare retusze (szczególnie w partiach jasnych opracowanych bielą ołowiową). Technika ta różnicuje miejsca, w których występują uzupełnienia ubytków zaprawy (kity).

The most common problem in Gauguin's paintings was a damaged ground that required consolidation. This problem is hardly surprising, since he used a ground that was more suitable to panel paintings than paintings on fabric. As a result of the flaking ground, he often felt it was necessary to reconsolidate his damaged paintings. - https://www.nga.gov/content/dam/ngaweb/research/publications... - page 91

Gesso prepares (or "primes") the surface for painting http://www.art-is-fun.com/what-is-gesso
Gesso (Italian pronunciation: [ˈdʒɛsso]; "chalk", from the Latin: gypsum, from Greek: γύψος) is a white paint mixture consisting of a binder mixed with chalk, gypsum, pigment, or any combination of these.[1] It is used in artwork as a preparation for any number of substrates such as wood panels, canvas and sculpture as a base for paint and other materials that are applied over it.

Regarding the retouching itself, the mimetic technique was selected. To achieve this, the materials used were Modostuc® (for filling losses)...
