English term

for every 15°F warmer than

English to French Other Mechanics / Mech Engineering
Bonjour,

Voici le contexte:

Never exceed the maximum speed of any towed implement.
Speeds shown are for 75°F outside air temperature.
Reduce speed by 1 mph for every 15°F warmer than 75°F.

C'est pour un tracteur...

Merci d'avance

A bit of consistency ....? If you start converting imperial units to units used in French speaking countries (presumably the decimal SI system) then shouldn't you also convert speed to km/h?

Just asking ...

disagree narasimha (X) : 8°C is not equal to 15°F. To convert °F to °C, 32 must be subtracted from 15 and then multiplied by 5/9.

Miscalculation on your side: here 15°F is not a temperature but a temperature interval, hence you mustn't substract 32 (which gives minus 9.44°C anyway : a negative number is meaningless here)

Réduire la vitesse par 1 mph pour chaque (9.44°C) 9.5°C plus chaud que (23.88°C) 24°C.

Réduire la vitesse par 1.6 km pour chaque 10°C plus chaud que 24°C.

agree Daryo : although 10°C would be good enough, no real need for decimals
