btw - jeśli się zgadzasz z odpowiedzią, to klikasz agree, a jeśli nie, to są inne opcje. Jeśli są dwie propozycje odpowiedzi, to wtedy odniesienie do obydwu, jeśli już komentujesz. Pozdrawiam.
The distinction is inclusive enough in Polish for me, which cannot be said about the word "man" in English, and that's where the concern/frustration of a translator comes from, apparently not only mine. I wouldn't say it's political correctness any more. It's already become a well established habit/rule in contemporary texts to avoid "he", "man" etc. to mean both men and women.
Tylko 31 (trzydzieści jeden) płci?? Kilka lat temu czytałem reportaż z Tajlandii, gdzie była mowa o ponad pięćdziesięciu uznanych oficjalnie, nie pamiętam w szczegółach. ;-)
Jak byś przełożył tę kwestię na polski? Nie ma ani przecinka, ani myślnika. Pamiętaj, że w swojej odpowiedzi masz przecinek, który po pewnym czasie zmieniłeś na myślnik. I powtarzam, że Anglosasi nie odróżniają mianownika od wołacza, a Polacy muszą.

NYC subway operators cannot say, "Ladies and Gentlemen". Basically, everyone can be potentially offended by something. One can argue that huMANity and MANkind are also "non-inclusive".
I was expecting a certain amount of mansplaining 😂 certainly. Let’s see if we can contribute to turning this behemoth around and rebalance the human linguistic experience...
Actually, women - the better gender - are in the majority. We can go for human or humankind, but Gorki meant "man" in the sense of a human being. Mankind (human beings considered collectively; the human race) is another option.
