English term

idlers

English to French Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Pompe
Chers KudoZers,

Toujours dans le cadre de la traduction d'un manuel d'utilisation et d'entretien d'un groupe de pompage, je cherche la traduction du terme "idlers".

Voici un peu plus de contexte :

"The power rotor is connected directly to the prime mover (electric motor, diesel engine, steam turbine, etc.,) and as it rotates the idlers turn due to the action of the pumped liquid."

Merci d'avance pour votre aide.

Bien cordialement,
Nicolas M

Tony M May 30, 2021:
@ Johannes What you appear to have failed to understand is that these idlers HERE are not 'pulleys' of any type, they are NOT driven by a belt, but by the movement of the liquid through the pump. Hence the majority of your claimed reference is either not relevant, or just plain wrong.
Johannes Gleim May 30, 2021:
@ Nicolas The vibration damping assembly further includes biasing means, such as springs, to keep the first and second idler pulleys in contact with the pulley belt.
Cet ensemble d'amortissement de vibrations comporte en outre des moyens de sollicitation tels que des ressorts pour maintenir lesdites première et seconde poulie folle en contact avec la courroie à poulies.

neutral Tony M : Not qualified to 'agree', but this was my thinking, in the absence of better context, it's difficult to imagine what else it could be?

neutral Tony M : While that is indeed one term used, I'm pretty convinced here that these are not 'pulleys' of any kind, and hence I don't believe this term could apply.
