English term or phrase: Pass-offs
Bonjour à tous !

Il y a les "conterfeits" et... les "pass-offs".

Le texte les définit ainsi :
"Counterfeits can be defined as illicit products that try to copy a brand as much as possible, in order to trick people."
"Pass-offs are products that make a small change to the original (e.g. changing a letter in the brand name) in a thinly veiled attempt to avoid some legal troubles, yet still trick the consumer."

Quel est le terme français pour "pass-offs" ?

Merci de votre aide.

Explanation:
Thanks to Samuël B. for his 'copies' idea. I got bogged down on produits, articles vs. marchandises etc. parasitaires.

Alas, the English Common Law tort aka civil wrong of 'passing-off' - used as a line of attack, as we know from IP / Intellectual Property Law, when there is no statutory infringement - is lost on the lexicographers or database compilers at IATE.

Cut to my almost-namesake Adrien E's discussion entry of '... il est question de contrefaçon et de détournement (de marque).' I actually think it is a matter of 'le parasitisme' and 'la concurrence déloyale', as borne out by many g/hits.

I doubt 'copie servile' as a a 'slavish copy' is quite the same thing, as there is 'no small change to the original', but I have included as an alternative, coincidentally to stop ProZ copycats. See the second example sentence.

My mind turns to the hawkers and peddlers of otherwise expensive counterfeit goods and 'pass-offs' outside well-known London West End Department Stores.

La question des délits et, plus particulièrement dans le domaine du délit
de substitution, voire «passing off», sera abordée plus loin dans le
présent document

2.4 Le «passing off»
