Spanish term or phrase: potentes paquetes estratigráficos
An article on an excavation of the Alhambra.

I understand 'potente' here to mean something like large, and 'paquetes estratigráficos' to mean 'stratigraphic units', so does a translation along the lines of 'large stratigraphic units' work here?

'Potentes' is also used in the following sentence and I don't quite understand its meaning there either:

Many thanks in advance for your help.

powerful strategic compartments

Explanation:
The information describes:
As a result of the excavation of the powerful stratigraphic compartments, identified from a time period of an initial Probe 1, there lies the discovery of a large amount of filmed material from a very heterogenous chronology (a time scale composed of very diverse elements).
After removing some powerful land-filled areas from a recent epoch (time period in history) and after the identification of the main units of restoration carried out in the 1970s, we can identify the most interesting arqueology.
