Reference: Ascites Reference information: Ascites is the abnormal build-up of fluid in the abdomen.[1] Technically, it is more than 25 ml of fluid in the peritoneal cavity, although volumes greater than one liter may occur.[4] Symptoms may include increased abdominal size, increased weight, abdominal discomfort, and shortness of breath.[3] Complications can include spontaneous bacterial peritonitis.[3] In the developed world, the most common cause is liver cirrhosis.[4] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascites Une ascite, ou épanchement liquidien intraabdominal, est une accumulation de liquide dans l'abdomen, plus précisément dans la cavité péritonéale.
