German term

Lenz- / Lecklenzpumpen

German to English Tech/Engineering Ships, Sailing, Maritime Leck-Lenz-System

I have found that Lenzpumpen seems to be bilge pumping, but can someone tell me what Lecklenzen is? The document involves a so-called "Leck-Lenz-System".

TIA, Beth

leakage bilge pumping...

...would probably explain it best. "Lecklenzen" means pumping water out of the boat, that got in there by a leakage ("Leck"). The volume of water, that has to be pumped in this case, is of course much higher compared to the normal "lenzen", so that would be an important benefit concerning the capacity/power of the pumping system.

leakage pumping system

I agree with bilge pumping, found it in "Segler Lexikon" 1984, my answer is just a guess, made up of different explanations in my "Lexikon".
