ancestral province, ancestral home/location Explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhou_Ziqi He was born in Guangzhou and spoke Cantonese but he later moved back to his ancestral province of Shandong. He received higher education in the United States at Columbia University. He became superintendent of Tsinghua University in 1911. http://www.asiawind.com/forums/read.php?f=4&i=2986&t=2986 but he had to adopt a baby girl from Sichuan province instead of his ancestral province of Guangdong. http://monkeyfilter.com/link.php/9309 In China, you might want to check out Hangzhou, especially around the XiHu (Westlake) area. They are famous for their Long Jing tea, the reputably best spring in the world (Hu Pao) and their teahouses. The Chaozhou province (my ancestral province) and Fujian are also pretty famous for tea, although they're darker and more robust than the delicate wulongs you find in Taiwan. You may also encounter rather lovely teas in Yunnan, ranging from light wulongs to the dark, dark Pu'ers, which is the only tea i know of that gets better with age. I've tried eighty-year old Pu'er before, and it tasted like fine red wine without the liver-taste of alcohol. http://www.geographia.com/northern-ireland/ukiher01.htm The ancestral farmsteads and cottages of some of those Ulstermen who rose to positions of power in the new state have been preserved. Places open to the public include the family homes of four American presidents. Two other important ancestral homes in the province - the birthplace of Judge Thomas Mellon and the boyhood home of the first Archbishop of New York - are at the Folk Park near Omagh. Northern Ireland's historical areas are the perfect starting points for those tracing their Irish lineage. In fact, US President Bill Clinton has himself paid a visit to Northern Ireland--the first US President to do so while in office. Explore Ancestral sites in: ... |
