thermal insulation 1. MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE THERMAL INSULATION

1.1. AIM OF THE INSULATION PROTECTION

The insulation of the plant is aimed to protect the hot surfaces from possible danger to people in the surroundings of the plant, as well as to increase the plant performance.
At the end of the insulation job, the surface temperature should not be 20 °C more than the ambient temperature, and in any case not higher than 60°C. The temperatures of the parts of the plant (before the insulation) are reported in the following drawings.

1.2. MATERIALS OF THERMAIL INSULATION - GENERAL INDICATIONS

The materials to be adopted for the insulation should be according to DIN 4140. In any case, the adopted material must involve no risk for the environment and for human health. The type of material has to be selected in order to assure the max limit surface temperature after insulation and suitable for the max involved temperatures on the parts.

• Rockwool

Make sure that the rockwool is firmly fixed to the equipment by means of a galvanized metallic net.
