"Termenul “cotext” se opune contextului asa cum mediul textual imediat al unei unitati discursive se opune mediului sau nontex tual.
Dificultatea principala este de a stabili ce apartine cu exactitate textualului si ce nu ii apartine.
Unii cercetatori nu restrang notiunea de text la unitatile verbale ci includ aici elementele de ordin kinetic care le insotesc (gesturi, mimica etc.), chiar si actiunile participantilor in cursul schimbului.
Dar, in general, domeniul de aplicare a notiunii cotext este cel al mediului verbal propriu-zis.
O delimitare terminologica ar impune folosirea termenilor cotext verbal si cotext non verbal."
