By extension, the concept of roots has found a place among the shapers of opinion in Norwegian transnational adoption circles. During the past decade, the two big adoption agencies both have appointed so-called ”ROOTS-OFFICERS” whose job it is to assist in the increasing number of applications they receive from adoptees concerning details of their early history. Some individual adoptees experience a desire to see the place where they originate from and perhaps also to try to find some biological relatives.
