French term

céréales, oléagineux, protéagineux

French to English Tech/Engineering Agriculture CAP - crops
This looks easy, but I am not quite sure how to translate these terms as they appear in brackets below. I have translated 'grandes cultures' as 'large crops' , then I have 'cereals', but am wondering whether to translate 'oléagineux' as 'oil-producing crops' and 'protéagineux' as.....'proteinaceous crops'??? Or is there another term?

Le premier pilier concerne les Organisations Communes de Marché (OCM) des différentes filières agricoles : grandes cultures (céréales, oléagineux, protéagineux), lait, viande bovine, fruits et légumes, vins…

thanks Miranda :-)
agree John Speese : Exactly what I'd say; I worked in agriculture before becoming a translator, and we grew all three of these types of crops! You could also say grains instead of cereals.

agree Tony M : And I rather suspect that "extensive" might be better for "grandes"? // Ah yes, that's exactly the distinction I was thinking of; "large" just doesn't sound quite right!

cereals, oilseeds, and high-protein plants

oléagineux = oilseeds, oilseed crops
protéagineux = protein-rich plants, high-protein plants
grandes cultures = field crops OR cash crops NOT "large crops!!"
the protéagineux could also be pulses (legumes; = légumineux in French)

Note from asker:
I take your point about 'large'! It was a very long translation and that just kinda slipped by!
