French term

nipaginé

French to English Tech/Engineering Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng Solution used in art restoration
La gélatine (diluée à 5% dans de l'eau déminéralisée et nipaginée) a permis de refixer les écailles fines non sensibles à l'eau (faces décorées des panneaux et côté blanc satiné des fenêtres)

This is a report on the methods used in the restoration of polychromy on wood.

I've managed to find out that Nipagine is a solution of
" solution à 10 % d'hydroxy-benzoate de méthyle dans de l'éthanol à 95 %"

but unfortunately I have no idea what the more common name for this is.

Can anyone help?

I've given this the Chemistry field since I think a chemist is more likely to be able to give me an answer than an artist, but if I don't get any answers here, I'll ask it again but this time under the artist field

treated with nipagine

I found several ghits for nipagine in English documents.

Or if you prefer, you could refer to it as ethylparaben :)
