I agree, "ss" is simply "sous".

'ss' is part of the phrase 'ss forme (de)', meaning 'in the form of', indicating the forms (chemical compounds) in which the pure element occurs in the environment.

Based on your help and what you all know, I also found in Canada's Termium Plus, Antimony is the current name of Stibium:
