French term

pesée inverse attendue

French to English Medical Metrology Pharma
Hello

I have segments like:

989,0 mg (pesée inverse attendue)

I'm found stuff iike "inverse probability weighing" and "inverse-variance weighing" but that seems to be more for statistics.

So what does "pesée inverse attendue" mean please?

Does it mean it's expected, therefore it's recommended?

Thanks

Ah sorry, yes you did asked about "attendu" - I was focused on the weighing! Glad you got it sorted :)

@ all Hello

I screwed up this question as I completely forgot to say that the client's TM had "reverse weighing" and I was more stuck on "attendu"
The client said that "attendu" here was indeed "expected"
Sorry about that

Hi SafeTex,

Differential weighing looks good, however I also came across some content that indicated that the term covers two principles: transposition (Gauss) weighing and substitution (Borda) weighing.

I don't know how authoritative this is but seeing as it's talking about metrology, it may help:

In your case, "transposition weighing" may work if you need a term more specific than differential weighing.

This French metrology website also gives a bit more information about this "pesée par inversion":

differential weighing looks right.

Care to put it as your answer?
Suzie Withers Aug 18, 2020:
Back-weighing is a term used in laboratories - could it be this? Also differential weighing, or weighing by difference

differential weighing

Not a field I'm an expert in, but it crops up in various places in a lab context as "back-weighing" or "differential weighing"
