It's used primarily when referring to email accounts.

: keep in mind that accessing & retrieving are not the same thing. Technically, retrieving is what POP does & accessing is what IMAP does (ie: a copy stays on the server). In this case... "relever" implies tranferring it from the maibox, not just showing it

Yes, I know that "relever" means to "retrieve". I was thinking in general terms. In French, "si je relève ma boîte email", I'm checking it my email inbox (accessing clearly implies retrieving it). Why not here? If it accesses it, it is retrieving it ????
