German term
haaraffin
German to English
Marketing
Advertising / Public Relations
hair care products
versorgt strapaziertes Haar gleich mehrfach mit essentiellen, haaraffinen Substanzen, baut es von Innen auf und verleiht ihm maximalen Glanz.
This is in an advertisement for hair salon products. I simply can't think of a term that provides all the elements of 'affinity'. It seems to imply that the ingredients have a similar structure to natural hair (cf. keratin which is derived from human hair protein and is also described as haaraffin on several German web sites). Does anyone have any good ideas? Many thanks in advance.

affinity to hair
You will have to restructure the sentence, as it's not as neat as haaraffin, but I think it gets the message across.
From a site on chemicals used in hair products:
Its affinity to hair and skin can reduce the cosmetics deposit on the hair and skin to the minimum

Comment: "Many thanks for your help. I used your suggestion and the sentence turned out well - although it wasn't so concise or neat as the original as you rightly pointed out.
Thanks to everyone who offered help."

hair-related substances
Declined
guess based on the defition of affine = "related to"
Comment: "A logical answer and thank you very much for suggesting it. I don't think it quite has the right persuasive advertising tone, unfortunately."

hair-enhancing

hair-strenghtening
I'd get away from the German, as it's for strapaziertes Hair, I would just get the gist of it and not stick to the term.

: .. but then you'll lose the explanation that AnnS gave with it .. I think you really have to find something for it, as it might be the gimmick of the product. Without it, "hair-enhancing" sounds like any other hair care product I think ..

Comment: "Thank you very much for your suggestion. The trouble is, I think it's more than this. I've even wondered about the good old standby 'hair-conditioning' but that isn't any better, and so far I prefer Amaat's suggestion."

hair resembling

perhaps ..
Comment: "Mmm. I'm not sure 'hair-resembling' substances would persuade me to buy the product. I'm very grateful for your suggestion, nonetheless."
