German term

Aufenthalt

German to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Does anyone have a good translation for Aufenthalt in this context: Ein laengerer Aufenthalt in der Firma ist nur zu dienstlichen Anlaessen erlaubt.

to remain for a longer period of time

This is often translated as 'stay' (as in: a long stay), but this has more the sense of recreation or pleasure. In this business context, I would use the verb 'remain' (and make it an active sentence): "[Employees] may remain in the company for a longer period of time only if this is necessary for business purposes."

Thanks all!
neutral Cilian O'Tuama : maybe I'm mistaken, but a Christmas party (for example) might be a 'dienstlicher Anlass' but would hardly classify as a 'business purpose'.

A fair point - what would you suggest instead?
neutral Terry Moran : German comparatives don't always mean "more" - they often just mean "quite". What's right here depends on what went before. More context, please!

remain

Staff should not remain on the company's premises for longer than the conduct of their business requires / for longer than it takes them to complete their business.
Again, just one of many. It may need adjustment depending on what "the company" is.

agree roneill : This is my gut feeling too, but we need more context!
