In this business context, I would use the verb 'remain' (and make it an active sentence): "[Employees] may remain in the company for a longer period of time only if this is necessary for business purposes."

: maybe I'm mistaken, but a Christmas party (for example) might be a 'dienstlicher Anlass' but would hardly classify as a 'business purpose'.
