Italian term

barre anti-avvicinamento tra i duomi-ammortizatori

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Hello everyone,

I am having some troubles translating the following phrase:

"una serie di barre antiavvicinamento normalmente usate solo tra i duomi-ammortizzatore".

The context is a MacPherson suspension system of a racing car.
Barre antiavvicinamento = strut bars? track rods?
Duomi ammortizzatore = shock domes? shock heads? shock cups?

Thanks a lot!

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Sorry for posting in the wrong category, I was not aware of the important difference. Now I am. My apologies.
philgoddard Jul 21, 2020:
You've also posted two terms in one question, which is against the rules. Luckily for you, it can't be deleted once someone has replied.
Jo Macdonald Jul 21, 2020:
Non-Pro? Hi Filippo
Don't know why you post questions as Non-Pro.
Can you change this to Pro?
As far as i know a Non-Pro question is one any bilingual person could answer without a dictionary, so probably a really simple question you wouldn't have to post a Kudoz question about.
Points awarded for answering NON PRO questions are not added to the answerer's total as PRO answers are.

Strut tower brace

Strut Tower Brace or Strut Bar

See : http://www.formula1-dictionary.net/strut_brace.html
One of the best decisions you can make would be to install front and rear strut brace. What is a strut brace? Simply put, a strut brace is a simple metal bar (or carbon fiber, if you are into that exotic, ultra-expensive range of parts) bolted to the top of two opposing strut towers, which is used to horizontally brace the frame of the car.

The strut tower is the mounting point for the top of the shock absorber, and it is directly connected to the vehicles chassis. By using the brace to attach the left and right strut towers together, you are adding on to the frame rigidity except you are doing it from the top, instead of the bottom as you would with a sway bar.

They're using a series of braces (strut bars) instead of just the one normally used between the towers.

You can see some of the multiple bars people come up with in some of the pics here: https://www.google.com/search?q=series of strut braces&tbm=i...
