Japanese term

固定資産除却損

Japanese to English Bus/Financial Accounting
From a balance sheet.

ALC says "loss from retirement of fixed assets".
This is all well and good, but when I look on Google, it seems that almost all the companies using this phrase are Japanese. When I try other combinations, such as "retiring fixed assets", "retire fixed assets", etc., I do get some US-based companies, but less than 50 hits.

Does anyone know if there is a better term, a term that is commonly used by companies in the US?

Thanks.

Plant (Fixed) asset disposal

According to my "Financial Accounting (3rd Edition)" text published by Jhon Wiley $ Sons, Inc, it would be a "loss on plant asset disposal." The text says "Plant Asset" is also called property, plant, and equipment; plant and quipment; or fixed assets.

The descriptions from the text below would be helpful to understand what's going here.

On page 425,
Sale of Plant Assets
In a disposal by sale, the book value of the asset is compared with the proceeds received from the sale. If the proceeds of the sale exceed the book value of the plant asset, a gain on disposal occures. If the proceeds of the sale are less than the book value of the plant asset sold, a loss on disposal occurs.

Jeez, \"text\" should be a \"textbook\".

losses on disposal of fixed assets

From a brief Google search, the variations of the above theme (sg/pl) came up most and the phrase seems to be used quite commonly in the US too.

E.g. 固定資産除却損 Losses on disposals of fixed assets
