Silvia, otro término para lo mismo es *marezzo*.
Otro más sería *variegato*, que aunque puede usarse en una amplia gama de objetos (desde una flor hasta el mármol), no tengo certeza que pueda aplicarse a la madera.
Esperemos que alguien nos saque de la duda... o más bien que me saque a mí :))
