On Saturday, January 5, 2002, the Nashville Area ProZ Powwow was held at the Red Lobster restaurant in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

We were a small but powerful group. Our patient organizer, Maria McCollum of SpenWorld (SPANISH/ENGLISH) was joined by her husband Joel McCollum. Alicia Hinson of Optimum Translation (SPANISH/ENGLISH) was accompanied by her husband Mark Hinson. The business partners from Lingua Express Translations (GERMAN/ENGLISH), Brigitte Pauli and Morag Cameron joined in the fun. Myself, Pat Morales Schaefer of ABTranslations (SPANISH/ENGLISH) and my husband Chris Schaefer rounded out the crew.

Our three hours together flew by with helpful discussions of our experiences with translation software packages, internet payment options, liability insurance, accreditation possibilities and marketing successes.

Although our backgrounds were varied, our experiences were similar and it was obvious that we all shared that special something that enables us to pursue doing what we love on our own terms.
We have created our own ProZ network in the Music City area which we hope will continue to grow.
