actually, if the original stands "if... then..." and a "provided that..." would sound acceptable to me, but this is a bit weird, isn't it? On the other hand, the translator was a native EN speaker, I just wonder...

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

i meant - providing (provided) are synonymous with IF
it is also possible to substitute \'providing\' with \'on condition (that)\' and \"understanding (that)\' here
