Italian term
coclea
Italian to English
Tech/Engineering
Agriculture
Agricultural machinery/Rotary tiller
Rullo livellatore in lamiera stirata e coclea (solo 305)
Is this another material (like Lamiera stirata) or auger/screw - another part of the rotary tiller.....if so, it's pretty bad syntax isn't it?????
Confused Kim!

helical structure within a cylinder
I know of 4 main answers for translating coclea
1. a piece of hydraulic equipment known as the Archimedean screw
2. in Anatomy, the cochlea or cochear of the inner ear
3. in Archaeology, the wold animals' gate through which the beasts entered/exited the amphitheatre
4. a spiral staircase
In each case there is a helical structure within a cylinder or semicircular canal -
Take your pick!
(An auger, however, is a sort of a drill or a sound and so it doesn't seem quite right here....)
