exfoliating peel
I normally translate 'peluche' as grain, and 'gommage' as 'peel'. Exfolation being the point in your context, I think that works better than 'peel with grains', for example.
I've seen 'peluche' handled with a note too, with an inference to the look of pilling on woollen sweaters.

Re one person's comment above, 'chemical peels' are very harsh treatments that are not the same as this. Here is an example of the kind of product I think your text is talking about. They are quite common- leave to dry and rub off just as you describe.

So I think the idea is to distinguish this from a "gommage a billes" which has little grains in it... Is this what an "exfoliating peel" is? Or should the word "gentle" be included to indicate that it is not rough/harsh? |
| Given that the product is called "Crème gommante", which I have xlated as "Exfoliating cream", I think "skin peel" does the job nicely for "gommage à peluche" - thanks! |

gentle exfoliating scrub
A velvety scrub that will rid the skin of dead cells.
Anything harsher will be detrimental to the skin, so a gentle or velvety scrub is a probably what they mean.

Yes, I agree. The simple function of an exfoliating scrub is to remove dead cells & refresh the skin. Peels can be harsher and may not suit all skin types. Thank you.

Mode d'emploi: Appliquer sur une peau propre et sèche en couche fine et régulières. attendre 5 min qu'il sèche un peu, tenez la peau d'une main et procédez avec l'autre main à des mouvements circulaires juqu'à l'obtention de petites gommes sur tout le visage et le coû. bien travailler le produit jusqu'à complète disparition de celui ci. Ne pas rincer

Yes, I'd add 'gentle'. Clarins calls their product 'Gentle Facial Peeling' and it seems to be based on the same principle. It's similar to a peel-off mask, except that instead of peeling off the mask in one go, it is removed by gently massaging the face and you end up with lots of little sticky bits!
I would say this is different from an exfoliating scrub which usually has little grains or microbeads in it and is washed off with water.
