Yes, this is a French document. A civil judgment following further hearings after a divorce. This section summarizes facts and procedures with a list of all the recent requests made by the mother ("Elle"). She is the plaintiff. The issue evolves mainly around the alimony to be received from the father. "subsidiaire" only appears here in this document and I have never come accross the word in this context before but I think "the contributory party" would fit perfectly. Thanks.

The "subsidiaire" in this context, is the father who is supposed to pay the alimony.

If the context is as you say the father in the capacity of provider of monetary contribution, "contributor" or "contributory party" seem to fit. If the term comes up several times in the document, mentioning him in other capacities for example, you could consider using "third party" to distinguish him from the petitioner and the respondent, or simply using "the father of xxx".

What is the relationship of the "subsidiaire" to the parties in the divorce case? In English there are several possibilities that occur to me - he may be an "intervenor" or "third party" in the proceedings, etc. Some more context here would help.

May I just add that although "alimony" is a perfectly understandable English term, Courts in England & Wales (I cannot speak for Scotland) now exclusively use the term "maintenance" and distinguish between maintenance for a spouse and maintenance for a child/children. I hope this is of help.
