El aparheid o desarrollo por separado es una forma particular de segregación racial. Mientras ésta ha estado vigente en muchas partes y épocas, el apartheid es específico de una parte de la historia sudafricana, por lo cual -en mi opinión- no debe traducírsele por "segregación racial", término aplicable a varias épocas y contextos.
