English term
Solitude / loneliness
English to Spanish
Art/Literary
Linguistics
Solitude and Loneliness. It's the title of a book. In dictionaries I found both translated as Soledad, but the idea is that Solitude represents to be alone by choice, while loneliness is to be alone as a result of being abandoned or rejected. I need something snappy that clearly conveys both ideas, as the title of the Spanish version.
Many thanks in advance

Short-term solitude is often valued as a time when one may work, think or rest without being disturbed.

: I understand the words as you do. I would say that "solitude" is "situational" while "loneliness" is an attitude. Apparently the source text gives "crossed explanations".

retraimiento (o retiro) /soledad

Suerte!
