German term

Führungspersönlichkeit

German to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) company museum
Information to be read by English-speaking visitors to a German automotive seating company's museum. Leafing through my thesaurus I found "high-muck-a-mucks" but fear this would not capture the right tone :) One of the two Führungspersönlichkeiten is the outgoing CEO of the company, so they are both high-level managers.

high-level executive

...I would think is the safest bet. Or top-level executives.

Of course, if you really want to go colloquial, there's always the head honcho.....

agree Teresa Reinhardt : with your first two suggestions, I think we have enough unmentionables...

Thanks, Teresa!
agree Evi Wollinger : I like that, 'Persönlichkeit' also makes me think of 'well established' ....leader?leading executive?

Thanks, Evi!, "Leader" is more in terms of head of state. "Leading executive" could work, but it doesn't portray the top hierarchical function. And, well, it can also be interpreted otherwise. Doesn't really nail it...I think..

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I actually submitted David's "leading lights" but the agency's excellent proofreader changed it to top executives. So Susie's the winner. Thanks everyone."

agree Frosty : Yeah, leading lights - even if lots of them are in reality as dim as TocH lamps!

I think this asks for a workaround.
"...two important managers in leadership positions ..."
Just "leaders" would not have been enough, but the "Führung" has to be in there somewhere.

management personality, figure

Why not go for the literal translation? "two key management personalities/figures..."
