striate(d) nucleus

This isn't my forte, but I found 32 references indicating that striate nucleus and corpus striatum are two different concepts (4 more for striated nucleus and corpus striatum), starting with Wikipedia. Also, "corpus striatum" is used vaguely to refer to more than one concept (see below), which undermines its accuracy. So my thought would be: why struggle, when there is an acceptable cognate?

[No separate article, however, on striate nucleus.]

Wikipedia:
The corpus striatum (striated body) is a compound structure consisting of the striatum and the globus pallidus.[1]
The term has been used in a few different ways:
*** It is sometimes used as another term for the basal ganglia.***
*** It may also refer to both the basal ganglia and internal capsule collectively.*** [2]
* According to the 1917 version of Gray's Anatomy, ***it is the combination of the lentiform nucleus (also known as the lenticular nucleus) and the caudate nucleus***
* According to BrainInfo ***it is a part of the basal ganglia comprising the globus pallidus and striatum***.[3]

[But no reference to "striate nucleus" as an alternative term or a component of the corpus striatum.]

Thank you for all the effort! You're right, obviously there's a corpus striatum in striated muscles too. But mine is in the brain :)

núcleo/cuerpo estriado

Out of interest, I thought I would send these refs. in. My findings would indicate that "núcleo estriado" and "cuerpo estriado" are one and the same thing in human anatomy.
