Same context as yesterday. It's a text from an art museum that talks about the Mexican Revolution.

En 1937 un grupo de intelectuales entre los que se encontraban Méndez, Morado, Zalce y O'Higgins, dieron la pauta para articular un discurso artístico socialistoide, como refiere la investigadora Teresa del Conde, que planteaba una fuerte crítica al imperialismo yanki, junto con la exaltación de las masas oprimidas por el sistema capitalista y la libre competencia. Sus estampas ocuparon un lugar primordial en la gráfica nacional al convertirse en medio propagandístico de los ideals revolucionarios de la nueva generación.

No encuentro nada en los glosarios, mi diccionario no tiene "dar pauta" tampoco. Mil gracias a todos.

Explanation:
Like Robert, I shy away in horror at socialistoid, even though it does get 69 G-hits. Which is not a lot, considering that many are duplicates, some foreign, some encased in quotation marks, and, no doubt, a few are translations. Not sufficient to convince me to use the term with confidence. It's also not in Chambers or Collins, which of course aren't necessarily the be-all and end-all, not being specialised and all that...

Somehow, sticking "oid" on the end of a word has a medical ring about it - like some horrible disease or a part of the skeleton! Or has connotations of "semi-" or "para-".
So, perhaps para-socialist would work here??


Anyway, enough of that!!!
