wrap in cling-film (UK) Explanation: Hi Hack, In the UK we usually say "wrap in cling-film" if you are covering something, say a sandwich, so that the film actually touches the food. However, you could "wrap" a cake or dish in cling-film as well without the film necessarily touching the surface. I agree that more context is needed, but perhaps this solution would work. You could add to it with something like "cover/wrap in cling-film so that the film comes in contact with the surface of the ***". I'd imagine the US has another name for cling-film. What's your target audience? Good luck! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 mins (2008-12-01 18:19:57 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry, it should read "so that the film comes INTO contact..." -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 days17 hrs (2008-12-04 11:06:25 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Hi Hack, Based on Internet searches, I think they call it "plastic wrap" in the US - but please wait for US natives to confirm this! However, "Wrap in plastic wrap" would, as Alice says below, be a little redundant. |
