I should point out that meta-knowledge should not be confused with a different, if related, subject, which is meta-epistemology. Although they may seem similar (epistemology is the philosophy of knowledge), they are actually quite distinct. Meta-epistemology deals with a set of questions and issues that are far removed from the subject matter of education theory and practice. To read more about it, here is a useful link:
