French term
supports
French to English
Bus/Financial
Advertising / Public Relations
From an article regarding the measurement of audiences across various advertising media (TV, radio, press, internet, etc.):
"Cette consommation médias a également été mesurée sur les supports de chaque média pour identifier les duplications entre médias at entre supports."
I am looking for suggestions of how to translate "supports" since to translate it as "media" would clash with the translation of "médias". At the moment I am considering "formats" but I was wondering if there are better possibilities.

I think this is how it should be translated in a media context

Comment: "I think that this (or vectors) fits the bill quite nicely. Many thanks, and I'm sorry that I can't also give points to Emma!"

: Doesn't really fit in EN, and highly questionable as an accurate translation of the source term / But how do you reconcile 'information flow' with a press advert, for example?

" Flow "does collocate with information in media terminology, so i thought i would suggest it. " les supports de l'information " = information flow

Hi Paul,
I worked 8 years at TF1 : we would use the word support to indicate something physical, such as a disk, a cassette or a TV screen. I suspect taht they mean that the different the different media were tested in every format available : ie the radio would be tested by standard radio use, and internet radio use. you're fairly safe with format here but depending on your target audience ;) perhaps 'form' could be an alternative - to avoid confusion with digital and software formats.

I think "support" is subset of "média" here. So a "média" would be "press advertising" and the "supports" would be the different newspapers, magazines.
If you look at how "support médiatique" is used, you may find "vector" is a suitable translation.
