La disminución poblacional identificada en la especie estaría asociada a factores naturales mas que a efectos directos (mortalidad incidental) o indirectos (efecto cascada – sobre explotación pesquera) de la actividad pesquera y antrópica en general (asentamientos urbanos, puertos, áreas de pesca).
