Can anybody help me out with this one? how would "procedemos a la persecución" be expressed in police jargon?

Thank you all, I think all of the answers are really good!!
It has been a mistake though in my hand not to specify that the sentence is a report from the patrol starting pursuit, so I think Richard's and Cristian's answers will fit better in this case.
By the way, this is the first question I post and I can see this is full of professionals!!

Deputies may initiate pursuit of persons whom they have reason to believe have committed or are about to commit a felony. The decision to initiate pursuit shall be based on the pursuing officer’s conclusion that the immediate danger to the officer and the public is less than the immediate or potential danger to the public should the suspect remain at large, taking into consideration at a minimum the seriousness of the offense and the traffic, road, and weather conditions at the time.

Note: I've heard this phrase used plenty of times in television police dramas, including "Law and Order" (one of my favorites!).

Thanks very much, Cristian (I went with "initiate pursuit" here because, based on the sentence provided by the asker, it seems that the pursuit is just about to start. I intended the answer "initiate pursuit" to be a command).

Let's go after them!

If this is a popular novel or a translation for film subtitles or doubling, (as you list in your specialties) "initiating the pursuit" is too stiff. It's for police reports.
Example sentence:

The cops know the roads are filled with reckless drivers, why not go after them ...
