Nous avons "posté" au même moment Long John!!
En fait il existe des règles d'adaptation du grec ancien (que je connais, ainsi que le moderne) en français. En ce qui concerne le "kappa" grec ancien (Κ, κ), la plupart du temps on le translittère "c" comme dans déca(gramme,litre, therme,etc.) prononcé "ka" en français , ou comme dans ciné(matographe) prononcé "si", alors qu'il s'agit du même graphème en grec ancien. Cette règle s'applique presque tout le temps, hormis des cas comme "kinési(thérapeute)" puisque "kinési" c'est la même racine que cinéma, soit "mouvement, en mouvement". Distinction sans doute pour des raisons d'euphonie en français. Il n'y a pas de raison d'écrire "déka" en français et en anglais puisqu'il n'y a pas risque de confusion comme entre "kinési" et "cinéma", et en plus la règle de l'euphonie est respectée en français. C'est aussi pourquoi le "k" est si rare en français, le latin ne connaissant pas cette lettre. L'anglais par contre emploie beaucoup le "k", mais comme je ne vous l'apprendrez pas, ceci vient de son fonds de vocabulaire hérité des Angles et des Saxons d'origine germanique
