ROTC is a university-level program to orient, motivate, educate and train participating students to qualify for commissions as officers in the "reserve components" of their respective military services, i.e. US Army, USN, USMC and USAF. High-scoring "distinguished military graduates" of ROTC programs are offered regular [full-time, career-path status] commissions.
