It refers to how acidic or basic a solution is and the English translation is "pH" (lower-case p and upper-case H). The H refers to hydrogen.

pH research has no significance without the compounds being mentioned. It is a measure of the acidity/basicity of a compound/system and is actually always included in the research of a compound's properties. PH is sure to mean something else. Ask your client for more info. It is difficult to search for this term as pH keeps popping up because it is so ubiquitous.
