Depreciation as a "Plus" or sorce of income Furthering my example below, after 5 years of using the equipment or assets its book value becomes equal to Zero; and if we do not replace the equipment and continue to using it for the sixth year, then at end of the sixth financial year we will be saving $1000 (the yearly/annual depreciation expense) and therefore this $1000 will be regarded as a profit, and therefore it becomes a revenue rather than an expense, because we are still using the equipment though it is fully depreciated, an hence the annual deprecation value will be added to the capital as a gained revenue, so we say:

Plus: Depreciation value

Context is correct, and this is how it is written Context is correct, and this is how it is written in financial statements, and the word "Less" is part of the mathematical accounting equation, which means to deduct the accumulated depreciation as an expense, an the opposite of "Less" is "Plus" which means to Add, whereas profits, returns are added to the the equation's resulting to increase to capital or an asset.

مثال:
سيارة قيمتها 5000 دولار
تستخدم في الإنتاج
تحسب قيمة إهلاكها السنوية عادة بتقسيم قيمتها على خمس سنوات (معدل الإهلاك الكلي للسيارة أو المعدة بعد مضي خمس سنوات، حيث يتوقع أن تكون قد أهلكت تماما)
أي أن تكلفة إهلاكها السنوية تساوي1000 دولار
بعد مضي سنتين، إذا اردنا أن نحسب قيمة السيارة الفعلية، يكون كالآتي

5000 دولار
ناقص: الإهلاك التراكمي لمدة سنتين 2000 دولار
فتكون قيمتها الدفترية تساوي: 3000 دولار
